Lyme Literate Practice

Lyme disease is reaching epidemic levels in Maine.  Unfortunately, many health care providers have not been properly educated to recognize the signs and symptoms of Lyme disease.  Also, the standard blood tests currently available have a high false negative rate (meaning that even if the blood test says negative, the patient might still have Lyme disease).  A Lyme Literate Practitioner uses additional testing to confirm the diagnosis of tick-borne illness including Lyme disease.  At Integrative Health Center of Maine we use many different modalities to treat Lyme disease, ranging from antibiotic combinations to plant-based natural treatments.  We also understand that healing cannot happen in a vacuum. In other words, in order for a patient to heal from chronic tick-borne disease one needs to address all aspects of health, including nutritional, emotional, mind-body connection, gastrointestinal, detoxification function, etc.  At Integrative Health Center of Maine, we have many tools in our toolbox to help patients heal from Lyme disease and recapture true health and well-being.
