Welcome Yasmine Akky, LCPC-C
Yasmine Akky is a licensed clinical therapist (LCPC-C) who offers virtual and in-person psychotherapy for adults, teens, and families through her practice: Calypte Therapy, located in the Integrative Health Center of Maine office in Cumberland Foreside. Yasmine specializes in PTSD and complex trauma; couples and family therapy; and ADHD, but works with people struggling with a variety of life concerns, including anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship difficulties, career dynamics, or with those who are simply seeking to make life changes.
Yasmine’s approach as a therapist is based in the belief that healing is best achieved by living in alignment with our authentic selves. She views therapy as a collaborative process, and while she may provide professional skills and training, Yasmine holds the client as the expert in themselves. Yasmine is a humanistic therapist who draws from her first career as a biologist to use a relational, root-caused approach to treatment, combining Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), polyvagal theory, integration of psychedelic-assisted therapy, and other evidence-based approaches. Yasmine helps her clients find the core wounds they have often carried their whole lives, access them in a safe and supportive way, and find their wisdom and insights. This has potential to create transformative changes to problematic patterns of behavior, core beliefs, and ways of relating. Yasmine is passionate about holistic mental health care: working closely with psychiatric, somatic, and medical-based providers when appropriate.
Yasmine has a profound respect and awe for each person’s individual path to healing, and her clients often say that they feel deeply seen, heard, and cared about in their work together. Her clients’ drive to face hard things and feel better continues to amaze her on a daily basis and drives her to do this work.
